I thought I'd add this as some comic relief! In all seriousness, I do believe that we need a balance of virtual resources on the Internet and the physical library. Striking the right balance is important to having access for all types of patrons.
Great cartoon, Dominique! You're right that it's important to keep that balance between physical and virtual. I think an important aspect of it, too, is to ensure information literacy of patrons. Many think that Googling something is the same thing as looking it up in an encyclopedia. I know from my experience talking to librarians in an academic library, it is an epidemic among those students enrolling in college: many are truly information illiterate. I wonder if it is because of the rise of the Internet or just paralleling the growth of the medium.
